By downloading or using Alacarte, these terms apply to you automatically - please read them carefully. Alacarte is provided by Marc Rousavy free of charge and is provided as is.

The pictures are not photographs of real food

This is the most important thing to understand about Alacarte. The images it shows are generated by an AI model from the dish's name and description. They are an impression of what a dish of that kind typically looks like. They are not photographs of that restaurant's actual plates, and the dish you are served may look different, be plated differently, or contain different ingredients.

Do not rely on Alacarte for allergies or dietary requirements

Alacarte reads menus with an AI model and can misread, omit or misdescribe a dish, and the generated images can show ingredients that are not in the real dish. Never use Alacarte to decide whether a dish is safe for an allergy, intolerance, medical condition or dietary or religious restriction. Always ask the restaurant.

Accuracy generally

Dish names, descriptions and prices are read from a photograph and may be wrong or out of date. The restaurant's own menu is always the authority, not Alacarte.

What you photograph

You are responsible for what you point the camera at, and for having the right to photograph it. Alacarte is intended for photographing restaurant menus.

Connectivity and third-party services

Alacarte needs an internet connection to work, and depends on OpenAI's API. If that service is unavailable, rate limited or changes, parts of Alacarte may stop working. Data charges from your carrier are your responsibility.

Changes to the app

I may update, change or discontinue Alacarte at any time, and may stop providing it without notice. If I terminate these terms, you should stop using the app and delete it from your device.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, I accept no liability for any loss arising from your use of Alacarte, including any decision you make about what to order.

Changes to these terms

I may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page along with a new effective date.
